WinSyslog InterActive SyslogViewer Database View

Hello,

I'm just trying to evaluate the product.
I'm having problems, as the subject says, with the Database view

First, some tech inf
WinSyslog 10.2a (Build 497) (it already included InterActive SyslogViewer)
InterActive SyslogViewer Version: 1.1.0.113
Windows Server 2008 Standard 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002

I also installed SQL Server 2008 Express to test database writting function

I'm in the following point so:
WinSyslog server running and logging into database.
I can see logs comming in the InterActive SyslogViewer and I can see also them beig stored in the database created (SystemEvents table).
The problem is in the Database View.
First, something weird: If I access to the ODBC Admin through the button at the top toolbar of the InterActive SyslogViewer I don't see the same sources that I've already created through Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)
So, trying to use a source already created through Control Panel once I click 'Reload' button I get the error:
ExceptionType: System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException
Location: cmdRefresh_Click frmMain
Details: ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

If I create a new source through the button of the toolbar...
ExceptionType: System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException
Location: cmdRefresh_Click frmMain
Details: ERROR [42S02] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'HelperPriorities'.

What can I do to get this working?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Let me explain why this happens even you created a DSN through "Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)"
For ODBC there is a separated configuration for the 32Bit and 64Bit world within Windows. As the InteractiveSyslogViewer currently is a 32Bit application, it will access the ODBC Sources from the 32Bit world. So you have to configure the System DSN from "InteractiveSyslogViewer > Odbc Admin", which will open the 32Bit Version of the Data Sources panel.

Regarding the 'HelperPriorities' error, does the user of your SystemDSN has the right to create tables? InterActiveSyslogviewer needs to create some helper tables which it does on connection. It seems like it could not create these helper tables.

Thank you so much for your fast reply!
Really appreciate.

Solved!
It's working fine now!

The only snag that I see now is that it seems to be a delay between logs inserted into the database and logs viewed through database view of InterActive SyslogViewer.
Database View shows, as the lastest/newest log, the previous inserted log to the real lastest log.
Similar behaviour as if there were some buffer.

Could it be avoided?
Thanks!

This is a strange issue, it may be a database issue.
Is your MSSQL maybe using some kind of delayed INSERT's?
