Unable to get Winsyslog working

Postby jim_milano » Fri Dec 18, 2009 5:04 pm

I've installed winsyslog on a box. Created a Syslog service as well as a syslog ruleset. Ruleset has two actions. Write to a SQL database using a ODBC connection and second action to write to a file. File has not been created, and monilog query's to the database produce no results. I have three clients sending their logs to this server using the adiscon client. I've restarted services, deleted and recreated service and ruleset. Is there an error log someplace that I can look at?

Hi,

you can take a look into the Windows Application Eventlog for error messages from WinSyslog.
You can also enable debug logging in WinSyslog, to see more details about what is going on inside WinSyslog.

best regards,

Resolved myself. I had Winsyslog service configured for 127.0.0.1. Changed to actual IP of server and it started logging.
