Ubuntu 14.04 and Rsyslog 8.2.2 update

Postby aaa123 » Tue Jun 17, 2014 8:05 pm

Hello,
Has anyone ever successfully update their existing rsyslog?

I would like to upgrade my rsyslog 7.4.4 from my Ubuntu 14.04 to 8.2.2 (v8-stable), but kept having issue to run upgrade command.

my /etc/apt/sources.list has these 2 lines;

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/adiscon/v8-stable trusty/
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/adiscon/v8-stable trusty/

Command ran: apt-get update && apt-get ugprade
showed the failure repeatedly..:
……

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/adiscon/v8-sta ... ty/Sources 404 Not Found
E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Can someone please help? I hope I don't have to uninstall the existing rsyslog 7.4.4 to install 8.2.2 new, but i could explore that option as the last resort.
Thanks

you need to run update before you run upgrade

The ppa pages have the detailed instructions on the commands you need to run

Hi David,
Thank you.

Yes, it was tried and the error you saw above was from there.

At any rate, I ran I apt-get update again and pasted the output's fragment here (only 3 links allowed so I can't add more). It looks like the repo doesn't have what is needed or something else on my side that is not configured correctly?

Thanks!

Please remove your rsyslog sources from /etc/apt/sources.list and add the new repository as described in the link below:
