SUSE 12 Packages

Postby atticus » Wed Jun 15, 2016 4:56 pm

Hello, everyone. I am planning working on a SUSE system, 12 Enterprise. In looking at the packages included for the imbedded version of rsyslog, it showed v8.4 I saw this:
rsyslog The enhanced syslogd for Linux and Unix
rsyslog-diag-tools Diagnostic tools
rsyslog-doc Additional documentation for rsyslog
rsyslog-module-gssapi GSS-API support module for rsyslog
rsyslog-module-gtls TLS encryption support module for rsyslog
rsyslog-module-mysql MySQL support module for rsyslog
rsyslog-module-pgsql PostgreSQL support module for rsyslog
rsyslog-module-relp RELP protocol support module for syslog
rsyslog-module-snmp SNMP support module for rsyslog
rsyslog-module-udpspoof UDP spoof support module for syslog

I have been doing my rsyslog development work in rsyslog v8.19. Is there any way I can tell how complete this list is, or if I will have any issues using this 8.4 version? It concerns me that more modules are not mentioned, but I have to believe if it's 8.4, most of the standard modules are included?

Thank you to all in advance for any assistance you can provide.

separate packages are created when a module brings in other dependencies, so most modules are part of the base rsyslog package.

We don't want the install of rsyslog to pull in postgres if you don't plan to use it, so that's why there is a separate package for that module (as an example)
