Maybe. It's always sad when a harddisk fails, I had this once before as well :(

However you will find excellent data recovery applications on this site: http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm

If you can't restore your data with that Software, then it's lost.

Hrm possible the partition block is damaged and that's why you don't see partition D:
However if it is recoverable, GetDataback will be able to recover ;)

Good luck

I tried the software from Runtime, "getdataback", it's $80. the trial download is free and you can see the files in your corrupted drive. you can copy each file, one by one, or buy the program and copy directories at a time. Anybody know of a cheaper alternative?

corrupted and unreadable drive fixed!

Your suggestion worked GREAT. I had a virus on the computer and switched drives back and forth several times before finally beating it and ended up losing my D drive. I knew it wasn't physically damaged and it wasn't a boot disk, so I couldn't repair it that way. Thanks for saving my sanity! :D
