A possible Mail Check bug?

Postby alorbach » Fri Feb 14, 2003 9:27 am

Hi,

maybe a silly question, but is "Autoclose" of the Pop3 Window enabled?

The solution of waiting for the pop server does not seem to work.

I am attaching two screen captures, showing the messages I am getting. Note
in the first one (NewsMergecap1.jpg) that the word"finished" apprears. This
stayed several minutes until I executed Mail check again, whereupon it was
replaced by the second screen. The second screen remained until I exited the
program several minutes later.

And it still stays open?
This is strange all.

To make things easier, could you send me your configuration by email?
You have to export the setting susing regedit, the key is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NewsMerge".

Please send teh registry file to support@adiscon.com (Forum is not a good place for this) ;).

Problem returns

Postby Douglas Hill » Fri Mar 21, 2003 7:03 am

The problem of the Pop 3 window that will not close has returned. Once again, I have to click a second time part way through the process to get it to send the confirmation message to the subscriber, and once again, the window will not close, sometimes even after the NewsMerge window has closed. In that case, pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete reveals that NewMerge is still running.

In our previous exchange, I noted that the problem was solved by the Beta version you sent me; however, it returned after several mail checks, and has occasionally hung the OS (Windows XP Home).

Otherwise, the program is behaving nicely.

Sounds like, that the TrayIcon function is making problems.
Please disable the use of the TrayIcon function (See General Options), and let me know if the problems then still persists.

Tray Icon status

Is that "Show NewsMerge Icon in Windows Notification area?"

That item was not enabled.

Yes it is the option i meant.

However, it looks like that the POP3 Check sometimes hangs (For what reason ever). But it should close in at least 30 seconds, because then a timeout breaks the operation. Canceling the POp3 Operation usually is no problem, but in some cases, this does not work and you would have to wait
until the 30 seconds are over.
