imjournal plugin fails to load

Postby dmbaturin » Sat Feb 10, 2018 10:52 pm

Hi everyone,

In Debian Jessie, the rsyslog package is built without the imjournal plugin, but I wanted to give it a try, so I've recompiled the package with --enable-imjournal

However, after installing the package on my test host and adding $ModLoad imjournal to the config, I get this error:
Code: Select all
rsyslogd-2066: could not load module '/usr/lib/rsyslog/imjournal.so', dlopen: /usr/lib/rsyslog/imjournal.so: undefined symbol: pr2fac

I figured that the pr2fac function comes from rsyslog.h so I don't get why there could be a problem with that symbol. I checked for missing libraries with ldd but it seems fine as well.

Any suggestions how to debug and fix this issue?

It's kind of a "dodge", but I suggest giving the official upstream Debian packages from the rsyslog team a try. Those packages should include the specific functionality you're looking for.

Please let the team know if you run into any issues by filing a report here:

Uhm... Maybe it should, but in reality it doesn't. ;)

Code: Select all
dlopen: /usr/lib/rsyslog/imjournal.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
