Install Step 7 returns Step 6: ERROR: Username needs to be s

Postby jeronimo » Mon Dec 17, 2012 2:27 pm

Hi,

after step 7 it returns to the screen of step 6 and says:
ERROR: Username needs to be specified

However when I do this it says: User XXX already exists!
I can also repeat with a non-existing user which takes me to step 7 again, and then, again, back to step 6 with the same error.

IE8, Apache 2.2, PHP 5.2

Bye,

marki

If the user already exists, you properly can already login. Have you tried this?

What I meant to say is that it never goes beyond step 7.
I suppose there is a step 8...

Hi,

have you tried to cleanup the database before installing it again?
And have you tried different usernames?

best regards,
Andre

As I said:

after step 7 it returns to the screen of step 6 and says:
ERROR: Username needs to be specified

Meaning: this happened the first time I tried (empty database). (The problem with the existing username only happens afterwards. So the first time I try, it seems to add it alright, but nevertheless sends me back to step 6 with "ERROR: Username needs to be specified".)

PHP Sessions are properly not working correctly. Is this a Windows System? If yes make sure the PHP Temp directory is actually WRITEABLE by the Webserver. If not, PHP Sessions may not work which could explain this problem.

I am having the same problem. I have tried several usernames. I also set apache as owner:group for /var/www/* and set apache in adm group (did this for fixing being able to read the syslog file when trying this on Ubuntu and got it installed fine)

I am trying to install it on RHEL 6 for my work.

Well I have tried many combinations of the software for rsyslog and loganalyzer as well as the settings there in for RHEL6. It seems other options may be more functional with other distros. What I finally found to work is:

1. making sure apache user has owner/group of /var/www/* after copying loganalyzer files
2. don't use the user database option (meaning there is no login to the webpage)
3. Using MYSQLNative and Monitorware options during configuration of loganalyzer.
