How can find special character in message

Postby elwood007 » Mon Sep 02, 2013 12:40 pm

Hallo *,

I use LogAnalyzer Version 3.6.4 and have many entrys from different network switches. My example message is "Slot-1: Port 1:36 link down".
My questions:

- how can I find exact this message string?
- how can I find a message that contain "Port 1:36"?

Many Thanks!

Best Regards
Elwood

Hi Elwood,

as the semicolon is a special character for the search, use a backslash, for example:
Port 1\:36

This should work.

Hi Andre,

many thanks for the fast answer. The filter with "Port 1\:36" works fine.
I have additional questions:

If I search "Port 1\:3", the result is "Port 1:36" or "Port 1:38" etc.

- how can I find message that exact contain "Port 1:3 link down"?
- how can I filter strings with special character SPACE?

Best regards,
Elwood

Put the string into quotes, this should search for the whole phrase, otherwise a space is a separator.
