If I get you correctly, the problem does not immediately occur after startup, but only after some time - right?

I'll try to get those debugs. And no - it starts directly as soon as rsyslog is running. But the delay increases dramatically. So at the beginning it's just seconds. But after 10 hours it's almost a day.
Unfortunately I "killed" my rsyslog installation and I'm now trying to rebuild it. :-(

Hm.... I can't explain why but now I don't have any working rsyslog on my ubuntu system. The compiling looks fine but I don't get the standard files and I also can't start rsyslog like a service. It's even not listed in initctl.
Very strange....

While hoping that I'm not too fast with this decision - we can close this request for now.

After some trouble with the installation of rsyslog 7.2.2 on my Ubuntu box I decided to delete everything and just re-install the apt package from Ubuntu repository which is just an old v5 Release. But with a simple rsyslog.conf file it now seems that my rsyslog/loganalyzer installation is able to handle all incoming syslog messages.

The updated resyslog.conf now contains the following:
Code: Select all
$ModLoad ommysql
*.* :ommysql:localhost,Syslog,rsyslog,XXXXX

$ModLoad immark # provides --MARK-- message capability
$ModLoad imudp # provides UDP syslog reception
$UDPServerRun 514

$ModLoad imtcp # provides TCP syslog reception and GSS-API (if compiled to support it)
$InputTCPServerRun 514

$ModLoad imuxsock # provides support for local system logging (e.g. via logger command)
$ModLoad imklog # provides kernel logging support (previously done by rklogd)

$ModLoad impstats
$PStatInterval 600
$PStatSeverity 7
syslog.debug /var/log/rsyslog-stats

$FileOwner syslog
$FileGroup adm
$FileCreateMode 0640
$DirCreateMode 0755
$Umask 0022
$PrivDropToUser syslog
$PrivDropToGroup syslog

$WorkDirectory /var/spool/rsyslog/    # Verzeichnis für die spool-Dateien

$ActionFileDefaultTemplate RSYSLOG_TraditionalFileFormat

# Filter duplicated messages
$RepeatedMsgReduction on
