filters everywhere

Postby Dino » Fri Oct 15, 2010 3:48 pm

Hello,

First, I would like to thank you for these great pieces of software loganalyzer and rsyslog.
I really like the "search filter" feature of loganalyzer.

Top requests of my wishlist would be :
-add a filter feature to charts (really my favorite this one, not too difficult to implement I believe)
for example I would like to display "top syslogtags for this particular host".
-add filter feature to DB source.
All my syslogs are going to the same DB, and I would like to apply different views or parsers depending on the source host or facility.
Do you have this in your roadmap ?
Or maybe it is already implemented and I missed it ?

I have written a Cisco firewall msgparser, and added corresponding Fields and View thanks to the userDB.
But then I was not able to filter those "parsed" Fields (no DB mapping).
Alternatively, I will probably parse those logs at rsyslog level and write them into a custom DB, as suggested here :
post13934.html
Then I should be able to display these logs into loganalyzer with filter feature working.
If I ever have something nice working I will post it here.

Ciao
Aldo

Hi,

thanks for your recommendations.
Those are not on the todo-list so far, but I like those ideas.
I will see how much work it will be to implement them.

best regards,

You may want to checkout v3.0.3 (beta) which contains a new custom filter option for logstream sources and charts.
See here for more: http://loganalyzer.adiscon.com/

Thanks a lot !
I just upgraded to 3.0.7.
The chart filter feature is really useful.
And the version is really faster.
Thanks again for your work.
