Hi,

we need a little bit more information about that Event.
For example which Windows Version are you using?

From a few Newsgroup searches, there are others having the Problem with windows media services on Windows 2003.

I came across similar error recently, even after shutting down IIS and freeing port 80 the problem still persisted.
This was on a Windows server 2003 with SP2 and all the latest updates installed, it was acting as my AD, DHCP & DNS. However, doing the same installation on another server that was not promoted as a domain controller started well without any errors. From this test i figured the problem is some other service locking down RPC when the server is promoted to a DC.
To eliminate this problem there was a need to install higher SDK and MS SQL Express, doing this will allow the the services to create and store a database for seperate authentication to RPC thereby eliminating the problem completely.

Solution is outlined in the steps below.
1. Uninstall the Windows media service add on components

2. Download and install a higher version of dotnet framework (find link here
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netf.../aa569263.aspx

3. Download and install MS SQL Express free edition (find link here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

4. Ensure the server restarts after the installations

5.Reinstall the Media services components, start it and it should be working fine.
