Is RELP really available in WinSyslog 10.0?

Postby RyanBLynch » Tue Feb 09, 2010 5:45 pm

I'm trying to set up a few Windows hosts (XP and Server 2k3, all 32-bit) to send event log messages via RELP to an existing Linux logging server.

The manual refers to an action called 'Send RELP' ( ... ndrelp.htm). But I've downloaded the latest WinSyslog (v. 10.0, build 488) and I there isn't any such action available through the GUI.

BTW, I'm using WinSyslog in trial mode right now. Could that be the problem? If so, is there any way to try the RELP features in trial mode, or do I have to buy a license first?

Hi Ryan,

as of my memory, RELP support was scheduled for the new WinSyslog release. I will check if something went wrong in the final customization step. In the meantime, you can test out the functionality with MonitorWare Agent (, which is a kind of super-WinSyslog.

... and as a side-note, I think you need MonitorWare Agent or EventReporter in any case, because WinSyslog is a syslog *server*, but does not forward event log messages.
