I would need to see the rowcount and table filesize of the systemevents table.

And just to be on the safe side, can you check the version number which phpLogCon displays in the footer?

Another question, can you make sure that option "Enable Row Counting" is NOT enabled for your logsource? This option will have performance impact on any sql query against the systemevents table.

By the way - thanks for this great appliance - I'm running it on ESX 3.5. Here is the info:
Version shows 'phpLogCon Version 2.5.21 '
Rowcount = 682010
Filesize = 126763620 bytes
Verified row counting is not enabled.

Just FYI: I have created a new announcement list for SyslogAppliance. It will be used to send out new release notifications as well as other important news. This is a (very) low volume list. Member posting is not permitted (questions and suggestions please go to this forum). The list is created in the hope to provide a better way to notify of important news (which we failed on in the past). It is driven by Mailman and you can subscribe yourself at

http://lists.adiscon.net/mailman/listin ... gappliance

I hope the list is useful.

@reverend: Your update to Version 2.5.23 proberly was not performed correctly or fully, please try to update to the latest Version again.

@mlist: In the Preferences of the Admin Center, can you disable the option: "Suppress duplicated messages"? I am not sure if there is a relation, but I want to be sure. If this doesn't help, can you take a dump from your database folder in /var/lib/mysql and send it to me by email to alorbach@adiscon.com? If the file is to big, I can send you an upload ftp account.

Andre

Andre,

please let me know when there is a new phpLogCon version available that I can integrate into the next version of the appliance. So far, I have sticked to the previous version.

Hi Andre

"Suppress duplicated messages" was already de-activated. Now I have enabled it (just to see if something change...) but nothing is changed.
I sent you by email a dump on entire directory /var/lib/mysql

Thanks, I will try to reproduce this asap.
Another option you can try to disable during meantime is "Resolve IP Addresses using DNS" in preferences of the Admin Center. If DNS resolution is not working proberly, this could cause delays as well.

ANDRE YOU ARE GREAT!

The problem was "Resolve IP Addresses using DNS". Disabling this option everything now is working fine!
I founded a problem with my dns settings and after some changes everything is working fine with option enabled.
The problem is solved
Thanks a lot!

rgerhards

could you please reply to the post number 12?
Now I'm using your appliance (thanks for your work...!) but I think some nice future and small changes in next release could be very useful and appreciated.

Hi Marco,

quite honestly, this thread has too many things that are not really related. Rather than looking at post #12, I would really appreciate if you could create a new thread with this question.

Thanks,
Rainer

excellent thanks, will look at it momentarily. I have also opened a generic thread for "why do you use SyslogAppliance". I've done this in the hopes that users tell us not only why they use the appliance but what is important to them. This helps drive the appliance into the right direction.

So then we can consider this issue as solved, it could only been something like DNS resolution, because your database was way to small to cause performance problems, even on small or older machines.
