I realise that this might not be the correct forum but you all seem very helpful so I will keep trying with this problem. Same as the last post but i thought it might be time to start afresh. It might help.
From another forum I have followed the instructions below to the letter but....
1) Boot from the Windows 98 floppy disk. (Doesn't matter at this point if you select with or without CD-ROM Support).
: : 2) At the A:\> prompt, type the following three commands, pressing [Enter] after each:
: : sys a: c:
: : attrib -r -s -h c:\*.*
: : copy a:\*.* c:\
: : 3) Power down and swap the floppy drive for the CD-ROM drive.
: : 4) Power up and let it boot from the hard drive. (When you get the Windows 98 Boot Menu, select with CD-ROM Support).
: : 5) When it's done booting up, just above the C:\> prompt, note the drive letter that's been assigned to your CD-ROM drive. For example, let's say it's was drive "E:". You would then type the following command, (and press [Enter]):
: : e:\win98\setup.exe
: : That's it. Windows 98 Setup should take it from there.
.........When I get to number 4 above i get this message. Seek error reafing drive A. Abort, Retry, Fail?
Any thoughts what I should do now would be most appreciated.
Cheers
Lenny
