Hello,

we are using Winsyslog, which is getting Messages from the Eventreporter.
When configuring the filter in Winsyslog, i found the "Syslog Priority" option, which is very usefull, but i'd like to know, what the choices mean, and who decides, which event which priority has. from where do these Prioritys come, from Windows oder from Winsyslog? What does each of them mean - how may i explain this to my CTO ?

thanks in Advance,

Alex

Hi,

Syslog Priority and Facility are both defined in the Syslog protocol.
Eventreporter maps the Type of an Event to a Syslog Priority. Here is a list:

AUDIT_SUCCESS = NOTICE Priority
AUDIT_FAILURE = WARNING Priority
INFORMATION = NOTICE Priority
WARNING = WARNING Priority
ERROR = ERR Priority
