XP Installation Error

Postby pattyc on Fri May 23, 2003 9:20 pm

After installing winsyslog on my XP desktop and then trying to launch the program, I receive the message "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." It is looking for the file WinSyslog 4.2 RC1.msi. I don't see this file on the hard drive. Please help. The program worked well on the W2K OS.

Thanks,
Patty

Hi Patty,

There is an FAQ article describing your problem and a solution available on the WinSyslog website. Maybe you'll find it helpful. However, please do not hesitate to contact us at support@adiscon.com if we can be of any further assistance.

XP Installation Error

I did try the file on the FAQ, but it is not the same file name that my version is searching for. The FAQ download has the file wnsyslog.msi; whereas my installation is looking for the file Winsyslog 4.2 RC1.msi.

Hi,

it seems like you have an older prerelease of WinSyslog 4.2 installed.
However, try renaming the winsyslog.msi to WinSyslog 4.2 RC1.msi, maybe the installer accepts it then.
