syslog setup

Postby karen » Sun May 18, 2008 7:02 pm

Hi Rainer,

Trust you are doing good..

I have configured rsyslog in test environment with phplogcon and it working very fine.
But i observed that my remote machines are forwarding the logs to centralied server but keeping the logs in its own /var/log/messages also.
I want these servers forward the logs without keeping it under its own /messages.
Is there any setting for that ??
I want to implement it in production environment.

Pls suggest..

Thanks..

Regards,

Karen

Could you post the configuration file /etc/rsyslog.conf on your clients?
You probably still have lines like
*.* /var/log/messages
in there.

Hi,

I have mentioned below line at client end :

*.* @@ (my syslog server's ip)

but yes i kept below line in the configuration :

*.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none /var/log/messages

i think i have to comment this line ..i will test tht..

Thanks alot for the clue.
