Problems with new install on Debian

Postby stergil on Mon Mar 10, 2008 6:13 pm

Hello, I'm trying to get rsyslog to function properly and I could use some help.

Let me start off by declaring that I only know enough linux to be dangerous. :)

I grabbed the latest version available and did a 'configure --enable-mysql', make, & then a make install. It built without error, and copied files to the listed directories. However, it didn't include rklogd and I'm not real sure why. I back-leveled a few versions and tried again with the same result.

The how-to that I was following worked with a much older version (rsyslog-1.9.6.tar.gz), which I then downloaded and tried.

This older version built the rklogd as expected and things function properly.. almost. I'm tying this in with phpLogCon and I can see the log results, but they are with a completely wrong time listed. The rsyslog server and the syslog clients reporting to the server all have their time set properly.

Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!
