RedHat AS 4 Update 2 and Mysql5.0.16

Postby cajt on Tue Nov 29, 2005 9:51 pm

I've tested rsyslog compiled with mysql support on the latest version of MySQL 5.0.16 and RedHat AS 4 succesfully. Rsyslogd was compiled with mysql-clients 4.x libraries.

Cajt,

thanks for the excellent news. I'll update the status page accordingly. If you let me know your name, I'll happily provide credits.

Mysql access issue

Postby cajt on Wed Nov 30, 2005 11:30 am

I've updated my profil :-)

But I have one issue with mySQL. I have configured this:
*.* >127.0.0.1,bla,bla,bla

but the rsyslog using real IP address of the server instead of localhost, my /etc/hosts table is following:
127.0.0.1 localhost
172.20.1.1 syslogtest

I'll do some debug if it's my setup issue on the server.

Note: I've used mySQL 5.x, because there are new features such as views, triggers, functions, ...

Anyway, thanks to you with rsyslog project, because it's a very good replacement of standard syslog and I suppose rsyslog will be a strong rival against syslog-ng :-)

Sorry, I think I did not fully understand. Do you mean it does not work if you say

*.* >localhost,bla,bla,bla

That would indeed be strange. In any case, I suggest running rsyslogd interactively. Add the -d -n options and start it on the command line. The debug output is often extremely helpful.

I know the -d option.
I have this problem with rsyslog, daemon going into database through real IP instead of configured 127.0.0.1 in rsyslog.conf.
I'll do debug.
