Usage of DHTML and Javascript Elements?

Postby alorbach on Fri Feb 15, 2008 2:41 pm

This is a basic question for me.

Using dhtml, css and javascript, you can do wounderful things.
The questions is how far the use of this can be taken?

Should PHPLOGCON be able to fully used with Javascript being disabled?
Or is it ok, to have certain features only available if Javascript is enabled?

Given the fact that it is nearly impossible to work with web apps these (AJAX) days without java script, I'd say we can depend on it. So I would not place any restrictions on its use. If we have some good AJAX class *and* some good use cases, I'd even like to take that route.

Ok, I was asking because I was thinking about a Filter-Interface which blends over the screen. This would make filtering easier and remove one additional click.

Sure... And I assume you are currently talking about the Filter *creation* dialog, as the filtering itself is done in logStream. Just to be on the safe side...
