MS Java VM on Win 2003 Std Edition

Postby chandannm on Fri Jan 26, 2007 6:21 am

Hi,
We are a startup and are in the process of taking up a dedicated hosting plan.

Here is where we are having trouble. Our Payment Gateway requires MS JAVA VM to be installed on the server for their s/w to work. [Please read quoted text below]. They say that this possible only on the Enterprise edition and not the Standard or Web Editions. Our Server Host on the other hand says that we can Install the MS Java VM on the Standard edition without any issues. As we do not have a local license of either servers the only way we can test is buy both the plans and this is time consuming.

Can someone please tell us if MS JAVA VM can be installed on the Windows 2003 Standard Edition.

"If OS of the server is Windows 2003 then it should be Enterprise Edition of Windows 2003; integration can’t be done with Standard Edition or Web Edition since Microsoft has removed java support completely for these editions. Even for Enterprise edition you need to install JRE 1.4.1_03 (msjavx86.exe, Microsoft Virtual Machine). If you have already installed the Latest Version, then this version also needs to be installed. Link for installation: http://www.kinderview.com/msjavx86.exe "

Thanks
