Resetting DNS

Postby Driest on Mon Nov 06, 2006 8:25 pm

What impact on a medium size network will resetting the DNS server during the day when people are logged on teh network, and working (through web apps, and citrix server and such on other servers [not on DNS])have, if anything?

What if some people have files that they are working (say AUTOCAD file) that is located on the DNS?

DNS issue

No matters the network is medium size or large size...When your are resetting the DNS server definitely the users accessing the DNS server either by web or citrix will loss the connection for some time until the server comes up and their connection refreshes.

My suggestion would be: Take a down time to reset the DNS server. Inform the users about the maintenance window and fix the problem.

cheers
