I'm running widnows 98 and I have a cable connection. For years it has worked quickly and I was very pleased. My cable connection is still fast, ie ..downloading and things like that. But, the past few weeks it is taking forever to open my programs and it's driving me crazy i have done a defrag, scan disk and cleaned out the cache on a regular basis.. Any suggestions as to what it could be?

Hard to say. Does the harddisk work hard while you are waiting for the programs to open?
