On the PC that is taking a long time to log in, go to the dos prompt and type in nslookup.
Then type in the server name and press enter
If it comes back with the proper server.domain.local and no timeouts then this is okay,
But it comes back saying DNS has timed out, then you may have a DNS issue.
Or to be quicker just at DOS, ping your server, if it comes back as server.domain.local then that usually indicates your DNS is usually correct, if it just comes back as servername, then your DNS maybe need configuring.
Make sure you have your AD server as your Domain Server, and the domain suffix as the forward lookup zone, such as if your domain is as domain.local then that's what you put in the domain suffix in your DNS properties. Also at the DOS prompt, ping the domain.local (Your domain) and see if you get replies. This is another good test.
See how you go, and let us know.
Cheers,
Jim
