Hello WinSyslog Community,

I need to foward syslog events via WinSyslog to a SMTP-Server.

Because of the bare LFs SMTP prob ( check http://cr.yp.to/docs/smtplf.html ) I need to either convert all 'LF' in 'CRLF' or - at least - to remove all bare LFs.



I checked
http://www.mwagent.com/en/Manual/curren ... ptions.htm but I did not find a hint.

Anybody out there who knows:
- if WinSyslog is able to this and how?
- which Version of WinSyslog is needed at least?
- how to convert to CRLF?
- how to remove all CRLFs?

- if Monitorware Agent is able to this?
- which Version of Monitorware Agent is needed at least?

Hello AMas,

Unfortunately this is not possible with WinSyslog nor with MonitorWare Agent in the current versions. Actually this feature is on the ToDo list, but I can not give you a date when it will be implement.

I checked the docs a 2nd time about property replacement. Quote:
"spacecc - Control characters in the property are replaced by spaces."

From your product point of view - are LF = control charactors?

If yes, spacecc would at least remove all LFs ...?

Yes, line feed is a control character. And, yes, they will be removed. So this probably takes care of your problem.

Sorry, it was added on June, 26th, so it is not included in WinSyslog 5.x.
