Strange error with EventReporter and Access driver

Postby osboy » Tue Mar 22, 2005 12:28 am

Server is Windows Server 2003, fully patched, MDAC 2.8.

I set up my Event Actions as normal and set up a System DSN using the Microsoft Access driver. Registry reports MS Access/Jet driver version 2.5.

When I set up my filters and start the service, I get this error in the Application Event Log. :
------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Adiscon EvntSLog
Event Category: None
Event ID: 114
Date: 3/21/05
Time: 3:52:44 PM
User: N/A
Computer: NETAPP02
Description:
Error while applying an action - skipping this action. Error is 'ODBC Error Code: '37000'
ODBC Error Description: '[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Unknown'.'.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I have the same EventReporter installed on 16 other servers with identical configuration (configured from same .reg file even) and this is the only server that is giving me problems.

Any ideas on the cause of that error? As a temporary workaround I am writing to monthly text file instead of a .mdb file on this server.

Hi,

I would move this into the mystics of MS Access as it is known very strange problems like this with unknown error messages.

MDAC itself does not include JET updates anymore since a few Versions. So there might be a chance that a JET Update does fix this problem.

Please try the JET 4 SP8 Update for Windows 2003 which can be download here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
I hope this solves your problem, if not please let me know ;)
