I have a Windows 2000 sever running Active directory. This error message keeps appearing in the system event log "The redirector was unable to initialize security context or query context attributes"
Any idea's

I'm having the same problem. I think it has something to do with Kerbose key distribution center being disabled. Active directory requires it. However, once I enable it and try to start it I get another error. Let me know if you ever resolved this.

I am having the same problem. This warning is rapidly filling up my system event log. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

I had the problem after an application was installed to my desktop. Couldn't view/modify network properties, no network access although ping worked. Reinstalled the W2K SP my machine was at and everything works.

Same problem as the others.
No Microsoft KB coud help me. I have all services up and running, dns well configured, and it seem not to create problems other than the event viewer warning. But it's too bad. Any idea to solve this?

Same problem as well! I use Altiris on this Server. Altiris is a software distribution tool much like SMS. Anyway, I tried as Theresa has, to enable the Kerbose key Distribution Center service and also get an error message. The error is:

Could not Start the Kerbose Key Distribution Center service on Local Computer. Error 1352: The security Account Manager (SAM) or local security authority (LSA) server was in the wrong state to perform the security operation.

Any Ideas?

Found my own anwer to this. The server is not a domain controller and is just a member server so that is why...

This event also seems to be related to name resolution problems. A good idea is to check wether WINS and DNS are set up and working properly. Also, ensure that all servers use the right DNS and WINS servers.

Another reason could be improper time syncrhonization. I know from experience that when time is not properly synchronized, a lot things can go wrong. This is always on top of my troubleshooting list. I know (seen in one of my other threads), that this specific problem can be related to timsync. So be sure to check.

Finally, the computer name you use to connect to the machine in question may be wrong. This is outlined in http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;263208.

I had this problem on a member server could see nothing wrong with DNS AD etc service pack $ fixed it straight away

Error is defined in the ntstatus.h file as:
STATUS_NO_SUCH_LOGON_SESSION
