MySQL set up

This is the place for you, if you got rsyslog up and running but wonder how to make it do what you want.

MySQL set up

Postby tk84 » Sun Jul 09, 2017 7:42 pm

Hi,

I am trying to log my messages into an SQL database. I have gone through the tutorial on the website, but I am still left with some questions.

First, I do not have a plugins folder, so I cannot find createDB.sql. Is there anything I need to install, or would this be installed with rsyslog by default? I could attempt to create the DB myself, but I think I would just run into issues going that route.

I was able to locate the file and create the databases.

I have set up the user, and tested it. It is able to function. However Rsyslog is still not logging to the database. Below is my setup:

Code: Select all
##### REMOTE LOGGING TO DATABASE #######

#$template TemplateName,"/var/www/html/attackmap/data/%HOSTNAME%.log"

$template TemplateName,:ommysql:localhost,Syslog,syslogwriter,password

if $fromhost-ip != '127.0.0.1' then -?TemplateName
& ~

### END REMOTE LOGGING TO DATABASE #####

The text file works, but when I switch to the sql line, it does not.
