error 1816/1721

Postby Radical on Thu Jun 03, 2004 4:18 pm

Hello people,
Recently my computer began acting strangely... It won't allow me to sign on to my windows xp home edition user account. This began suddenly, but I don't think it is a virus as I had Norton Anti-virus running auto-protect. Sometimes, however, I am able to log on to my account or the guest account, but when I try to run any program I get an error that reads "Not enough quota is available to process this command," as seen in error 1816, and I occasionally get the "Not enough resources are available to complete this operation" error as seen in error 1721. As previously stated, I am on windows xp home edition. My hard disk is not full on my fairly new e-machinescomputer, I have plenty of virtual memory, I have adware/spyware/virus protection, and I am wondering if I need to reinstall windows (Sometimes, at the logon screen, it states that I need to register my copy of windows.). If you need more information about my specs, feel free to ask. And to anyone willing to help me, I thank you.

You may have too many processes running. Try to disable/close some applications.

Virtual memory

You need to increase the virtual memory allocatioin. You will eventually see a message that says "Windows does not have enough virtual memory, would you like to increase it"

before this happens; go to microsoft . com and get directions how to increase your page file and virt memory.
