Event 2006

Postby micky on Fri Nov 21, 2003 7:23 pm

I have a Windows NT 4.0 box with SP6a installed. I'm getting Event ID 2006, "The server received and incorrectly formatted request from Win2k-server." The Win2k server is my backup machine. I have SP4 installed there. Other NT systems in my domain are backing up without a problem. So what gives? The now "problem" box has never had any issues communicating with any of my other 10 Win2k servers.

I have a similar situation going on...
The only difference is that the NT 4 (SP6) machine is a PDC in one domain and the W2k (SP4) machine is a domain controller in another (there is a trust between domains and the domains are not in the same forest).
This error does not cause a crash on either machine, but the W2k machine can no longer perform a back up of the NT 4 machine (using Veritas to attach to C$). It was working fine for the longest time...
