Postby Chuck@.org on Tue Sep 14, 2004 1:19 am

When I start the syslog service it fails with event ID 104 with the source as Adiscon WinSysLog. Any suggestions?

Hello,

Can you tell me the message that is logged with this event id? I think this message comes when your trial period is over. If you have entered the license key, make sure that you have entered it correctly. Here is an FAQ that will help you:

http://www.winsyslog.com/Common/en/FAQ/ ... ceInfo.php

If you have installed a new version, then you might need a new license key depending upon the things written in the following FAQ:

http://www.winsyslog.com/Common/en/FAQ/ ... syslog.php

Hope it will help you out.

Best Regards

I reinstalled the product to see if that would fix it. I get event 11728 with message: Product: WinSyslog -- Configuration completed successfully.

I then get event: 118 with message: WinSyslog Service is running in registered mode.

I then get event: 114 with message: MonitorWare Agent trial expired. The Agent is now disabled. Please visit http://www.mwagent.com/en/ to purchase the product. There is no need to reinstall the product after purchasing. You just need to enter the registration key. Your configuration will remain intact.

Then event: 114 with message: The initialization process failed.

I thought there was a freeware mode it runs in. Not so?

Hello,

According to the messages that you have written, it is not winsyslog that is causing problem, it is monitorware agent. Have you installed MonitorWare Agent too on your machine? If yes, then its trial is over. No the products are not free. They can be tested free for 30 days and then you would have to purchase the license keys for them. I hope this explains.

Actually, we offer a free version of WinSyslog, but it is only targeted toward home users. Please see this URL for clarification:

The different editions and their capabilities are described here:
