Hi,

One of my clients is having a recurring error while running our application. Basically our software is a Access 97 db and the client is runnign WinXP OS and Win2003 Server.
The event log isn't much help as all it says is"Hanging application MSACCESS.EXE, version 8.0.0.5903, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000."

I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this error before or if it is too general to diagnose?

Any help greatly appricated.

Hi,

such a application hang would lead to a bug within MSAccess.
Have you tried updating office to the last version (By using office update):
http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates/

Usually those updates solves such problems

The only trouble is it's not a full copy of Access 97 it's only a runtime version. I will definately have a look at the update site though as this might turn something up.

I think I may have found a bug in the combination of Acces97 Runtime, WinXP and Win2003!! I've now got at least 2 clients that are all experiancing the same problem. Unfortunatly I have no access to a 2003 server at the moment to conduct tests.

Hrm if possible I would recommend to just upgrade the Access runtime. I am pretty sure MS never tested MSAccess 97 on WinXp or Win2003

we are having the same problem with Access 97 and Server 2003. We have run all the latest office updates, but this still has not been resolved.

We are getting the same event viewer errors, but we are running Accpac with WinXP from a 2003 server. I still have not found a solution to the 'hungapp'

We are having the same probleme, that one of our xp clients stops working. the event log shows same messages but with different programms. For example there are pdesk.exe (matrox dual head graphics adapter) or even the explorer.exe

At this time i have no idea how to fix it.

This problem may be associated with the NIC driver. Try changing the nic card/driver on the PC/Server
