Hi,

We're running a registered version of SimpleMail (3.1) and it doesn't appear to be working. When you try to submit a form, the server either gives a HTTP 500 error or says that it can't instantiate SimpleMail. We're running IIS on Windows 2000 Server. Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Hi,

what does the LastStatusMessage property says?

Here a quick sample how to get the LastStatusMessage:

Hi Michael,

I get the same error as before: HTTP 500 Internal Server Error.

I just tried to reinstall the program, but that didn't help either.

Yup, this is all it had:

This sounds not like a simplemail error. Do you get any errors during installation of simplemail?

Can you please also test simplemail with a vb script. Simply make a simplemail.vbs file and insert the following:

No problems during installation. I ran the script you provided and it returned -1; Could not connect to mail server.

Hi Yarlen,

OK, simplemail is installed correctly.

Have you edit the vb script according to your requirements (edit mailserver, sender and recipient)?

If so, the message "Could not connect to mail server" indicates that your mailserver is not reachable. Please check if your mailserver address is right and if your mailserver connection is working.

Duh.

I forgot to change those settings. :oops:

The script replies with 221 - <mail server name> ESMTP server closing connection.

So, it's on our end from the sounds of it?

Code 221 is a success

So your email got successfully send

Hmm, but our forms still don't work.

I still get Internal Server Errors when trying to call the SimpleMail Object.

HTTP 500.100 - Internal Server Error - ASP Error

Error Type:
Server object, ASP 0177 (0x800700008)
800700008

On this line:

Can you try the following please:

- start console: "Start" -> "Run...", type "cmd"
- go to your simplemail folder (e.g. c:\program files\simplemail)
- type "regsvr32 simplemail.dll"
- restart your iis
