100% CPU Utilization from Evntslog.exe. Event reporter and Winsyslog are both running on Winnt 4.0 Server.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Adiscon Support and for using our product. Have you upgraded EventReporter to version 6.x :?: If yes then the following URL would be helpful:

http://www.eventreporter.com/Common/en/ ... zation.asp

If the answer is no, then kindly look into the Windows EventLog and see if EventReporter logs any messages.

I hope that it helps. If you have further queries don't hesitate to contact us.

Regards,
Tamsila Siddique.
Adiscon.

The Version numbers of all products would be important to know because there can be several reason for high cpu usage

Sorry about the lack of detail

Postby half_past_nine on Thu Apr 22, 2004 6:29 pm

I am running Event reporter 6.1.206 and the client is 6.2.147. I just performed the 6.2 full upgrade and am still having the same issue. I did see that link before posting but It doesn't give to much info, the problem has been solved? How? what is the recommended course of action?(only happened on an unaltered fresh installation sometimes)?Yes this is a fresh install of 6.1 and that is when the problem started. Is there a way that I can tell other than the 100% CPU utilization if this registry value is the problem that I am experiencing? again, what is the recommended course of action? where should I start?

There was a Problem with the EventReporter Service. It was a wrong default value when a registry setting was missing (only happened on an unaltered fresh installation sometimes). However the problem has been solved. You can download EventReporter from the following location :

Thanks for helping

Hi,

This is strange, your EventReporter upgrade installation was not successfully. After the upgrade you should have Version 6.2.211 and not 6.1.206. Please send an email to support@adiscon.com with the request to send you EventReporter Service version 6.2.211, I will send it to you then and you can manually copy it into the EventReporter installation folder.

One last question, did the update ask for a restart? And if did you restart?

It did not ask for a restart

Postby half_past_nine on Fri Apr 23, 2004 11:10 pm

I did try uninstalling the eventreporter (rebooted) and then performing a fresh install (rebooted) instead of a upgrade but the results were the same I still have thet old version ?. I was never prompted for a restart for the upgrade or the fresh install route. Is a restart nessesary? this question is more for other servers that are mision critical that will definiatly need to be scheduled to reboot.

Only a restart of the EventReporter Service is necessary. However it looks like that the service file is locked by some application and therefor cannot be replaced. Possibility an open mmc (Eventlog viewer) could have the service process locked.

So I will send you the latest EventReporter Service exe by email so you just overwrite it manually on your system ;)

Hi,

hrm my answer was send on 2004-04-28, my original text was:

Hi,

here we go.
You will need to logon into our ticket System in order to download the new EventReporter (See links below this message).

In order to manually update, stop the Eventreporter Service and copy the new service exe file into the EventReporter installation directory.

I will send a new answer so you get the reference to the service ticket again.
