Changing Admin Password throughout entire domain

Postby Ryan Lambert on Wed Mar 05, 2003 9:28 am

Hello,

We've recently been trying to figure out a solution for
changing the Administrator password throughout the domain,
without affecting certain Services that may be running off
of its current credentials. On top of that, I thought to
change the Administrator login through the domain
controller security policy, however this too would affect
services running on Member Servers.

Any ideas?

IMHO the only good way to do it (if not the only at all ;)) is to create specific service accounts and then set the services to log in using these accounts. You may want to tailor those accounts to have only as much power as actually needed.

Using an actual user account for services is common, but always runs you into trouble like to one you experience. And it also has large security implications.
