Asus 9280 ti4200 geforce4 problem

Postby SHilton on Sun Mar 02, 2003 8:00 pm

I just bought a V9280/td graphics card and cannot get it to work. If I leave it set to standard VGA compatible it works at all resolutions but after I install the drivers (both Nvidia and Asus' latest drivers) and reboot I have no picture on the display. When I have a display the display properties show vgasave for display adapter. My system is GA-7DX gigabyte motherboard.. AMD Athlon XP 1800+ .. 512 MB RAM .. running Windows XP. I was previously using a Asus V7100 geforce 2 with no problems at all. thanks for any help, Steve
p.s. I tried the card in a different computer and it worked fine and I have even reinstalled the OS and also tried it with Windows 98

Hi,

I guess I have an idea what could be the problem.
Please check how much memory your GFX Card has.
Then check the size of the AGP-Aperture memory size in your bios settings.

It should be the double value of the GFX Card memory size.
For example, if your GFX Card has 128 MB memory, the AGP Aperture should be configured to 256 MB.

Some motherboards have problems with such large sizes, so if it doesn't work, lower the AGP Aperture size (From 256 to 128 MB for example). If there is an BIOS Update available, apply it - chances are good that it has been fixed in a newer BIOS Version.
