the lightweight HUP patch appears to be functioning perfectly.

I didn't get a chance to pursue the IPv6 stuff today, I'll try to do that tomorrow.

in setting up rsyslog as a relay I am occasionally seeing it slow down _drasticly_ (sometimes it runs at ~40,000 logs/sec, sometimes at ~4,000 logs/sec) this slowdown continues even after I halt the input (so that the 'relay' box is just flushing it's queue) I'll try to chase this more as well.

• Custom written rsyslog.conf?
• Maintenance Contract?
• Installation support?

trying to build on an older system (debian 3.1 to go into a production location that hasn't been upgraded yet) I get an error when I do autoreconf -fvi

aclocal: configure.ac: 14: macro `AM_PROG_CC_C_O' not found in library

this sounds like there's a missing dependancy or a newer version of something is needed. what version of the autotools do you think this requires?

the minimum version should be what is stated in configure.ac, I think 2.61...

that's the problem, debian 3.1 only had 2.13.

I'll have to try harder to get a static compile from a later build server to run on these older boxes.

I got it do a static build (CFLAGS=-static on configure, LDFLAGS=-all-static on make) unfortunantly the result dies becouse it's unable to load it's own modules explicitly

I guess I'll have to give up on pushing rsyslog back to the older builds

That would probably require to change the way modules are dlloaded()...
