Is it possible to merge ipv6 changes from rsyslog to sysklog

Postby ricky_john on Mon Aug 11, 2008 11:52 am

Hi all
Can we merge only IPv6 changes from rsyslog to sysklog?
As I donot want all the features supported by rsyslog and i want to decrease size of daemon, I need to take only IPv6 changes to sysklog project from rsyslog project.
Can anybody help me in this regard?
size of rsyslogd is about 200kb after stripping + plug ins
sysklogd will give syslogd(22k) and klogd(20k).

Thanks in Advance

Dear Joey

Any patch is there to be applied for sysklogd/ syslogd to support ipv6?
freeBSD syslogd supports IPv6 but does this freeBSD syslog is similar to sysklogd?
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=syslogd (man page)

Please help me as I am struggling for last 1 month...!!

Regards
Rickey

Hi,

I guess Joey will not watch this forum ;) It is probably a good idea to ask the sysklogd mailing list, available via http://www.infodrom.org/projects/sysklogd/

Just out of curiosity: what is demanding such ultra-low memory? Have you considered stripping from rsyslog what you do not need?
