Hi,
i've got a kiwi syslog daemon which is listening to a nagios server (FC8). I have a rsyslog running on it. I want that this client "speaks" on an UDP port (like 514), and the kiwi daemon listen for this UDP messages. How can i do?

• Custom written rsyslog.conf?
• Maintenance Contract?
• Installation support?

use a forwarding rule in rsyslog.conf, eg.

*.* @target-machine

Okay, is there a tool to view if UDP port 514 is open?
I don't receive any message (probably because no message is generated ^^)

I suggest you check with Kiwi for that

As far as rsyslog is concerned, you can run it in debug mode. There, you see the send process (or you don't see it... ). Info here:

Hi,
I think firewall is enabled in your system. If that is the case you need to disable firewall first by giving the following command

service iptables stop

Then you check. You can also check whether the port is open for UDP by giving the command
netstat -al | grep udp
