Terminal Services via the Internet

Postby Dooma on Fri Feb 28, 2003 10:29 am

I would like to access my win2000 server at work through terminal srvices
from home.
What port number do I need to open on my firewall. Is this a good idea? Is
there a
better way to do it?

The port is 3389/TCP but I don't think it is a good idea from a security
point of view... (i could have worded it harder;)) If you need, I suggest
you put it into a DMZ and then connect to a VPN to the DMZ and THEN get onto
the terminal server.

If you drop information on your complete network setup, I may be able to
provide more advise.
