Could someone tell me step by step how to eliminate things on the start-up list that load on the computer when it starts up?

Hi,
there are three locations to look for.
1. Startmenu->Programs->Startup
2. Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
3. Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
