phplogcon scalability

Postby rahmant on Tue Jul 01, 2008 1:08 am

I'm running a copy of Kiwi Syslog tool as a syslog server for my Cisco ASA firewalls. I'm having some application issues with the Kiwi tool and am interested in looking at alternative products. I found phplogcon through some Google searches and am interested in finding out how the applications scales to the size of the database being accessed. For reference, I'm logging all transactions from my ASA units and am generating about 10 million events per day. If there are some phplogcon users with experience in sizing/configuring the tool to handle this type of traffic load, I'd like some pointers on what to do to ensure good performance (more memory vs. more/faster processors, etc.).

Thanks,

Tariq

Hi Tariq,

I would say give phplogcon a try. There are certain functions of phplogcon which should perform well on such a large scaled database. However functions like filtering and searching maybe slow depending on what and how you search to the large amount of data the database server has to search for.

I would give phplogcon a try, it is very easy to setup and to play with.
