No emails

Postby Ace on Sat Jun 19, 2004 8:19 pm

I have tried to configure EventReporter 6.3 to simply send me emails upon any Success, Error or Warning event in any event log and I can't figure it out even after a few hours.

I have configured the Event Log Monitor in the Default Settings for Services section to just have the Sucess, Error and Warning events checked. This is enabled and set to use my Email Alert for a rule.

I have also configured the Running Service as the same.

I have created a ruleset with a rule called Send Email and with a filter condition of OR --> Event Severity contains "[WRN]" and Event Severity contrains "[ERR]" with an action of forward via email with all the appropriate settings. I've also restarted the service after all of this.

I am constantly getting this error in my Application Log of my server:

Error while applying an action - skipping this action. Error is 'Unknown error while sending data (TCP)'. and then this:

Numerous runtime events were encountered .
This is usually caused by configuration or network problems.
From now, there will no more events logged for this hour.

I know I have no network problems on my network because everything is looking OK.

Update: I just tried to set up winsyslog also and I get the same error in the Application Log.

Hi,

it seems like that there was a communication error with your configured email server. Please enable Debuglogging (Set to full output) in order to get more detailed error messages.

Once you have done this, zip the debuglogfile and send it to support@adiscon.com, then we can further analyze it.

It's over 55MB so I don't think that would be a good idea. I looked at it though and it said similar messages over and over.

Also,

The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator."

How big is it if you pack it with zip or rar?
If it is below 20 MB, you can send it to my email address alorbach @ adiscon . com
