Module imuxsock in Centos 5.2

Postby dirkhschulz » Thu Aug 07, 2008 2:19 pm

Hi folks,

I have installed rsyslog 2.0.0 from the Centos 5 base repository, next I have tried rsyslog-2.0.2 from karan singh, but both do not contain the module imuxsock which I would like to use for queueing.

Is there an rpm for RedHat/CentOS out there that contains this module. I do not want to compile myself in this case.

Thanks for any hint or help.

v2 doesn't use input modules the same way as v3. See http://www.rsyslog.com/doc-v3compatibility.html for additional details.

I don't know whether v2 supports queuing, you'll probably just need to test it. Or run 3.

Hi HKS,

that means RedHat/Centos deliver a 2.0x rsyslog together with 3.x documentation. That's a nice idea for making people hungry for more ...

Thanks for your help.

Really? That's interesting... Can you send me a few sample pages where this is the case - I want to outrule that something incorrectly actually *is* in the v2 doc ;)

As far as queuing goes - that's an exclusive v3 feature, except if you mean the very simplistic in-memory queueing in v2. That is not really queueing but more something to keep different producer and consumer rates apart...
