Message Parsers

Postby garetht » Fri Oct 24, 2008 12:26 am

Hallo

Is there any guide on how to use the 'message parsers' option from the latest version?
I've tinkered around with the options for some time, but I can't seem to get it to do anything. What should I be putting in the "Message Parsers (comma seperated)" field?

Many thanks,
Gareth

phpLogCon professional services

  • Custom phpLogCon configuration?
  • Maintenance Contract?
  • Installation support?

This was quickly added for a customer project and I think right now Andre is the only one who has specifics. I'll see that I add it to the doc when Andre replies ;)

The message parsers have recently being added to support more custom log format in phplogcon.
If you take a look to the "Message Parsers" panel in the Admin Center of phpLogCon, you will notice the question mark icons. Some of them are linked to Howto Articles which explain how to setup these message parsers. This would be a good start to get into them.

You also see the "Message Parser ID" in this Panel, these ID's have to be entered in the "Message Parsers (comma seperated)" of your logstream sources. I hope this helps ;)

best regards,
Andre Lorbach

PS: Btw I would recommend at least phpLogCon 2.5.14 or better higher, because prior Version did not have the "Message Parsers" admin panel.

Hi

Thankyou for your replies. I'm running the latest version - phpLogCon Version 2.5.6.

I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place. In my admin panel, the only place I see options for Message Parsing is under the "Add / Edit a Source" screen. From here, I don't see any question marks, or "Message Parser ID." Do you have a static link to the Howto Articles? If not, I'm happy to wait for the documentation. :)

Thanks,
Gareth

Ooops. I see my problem. I was eager to get the latest, and so have Version 2.5.6, which doesn't contain, for example, admin/parsers.php
Should I move to 2.5.15, or wait for the next version?

Thanks for your hard work,
Gareth

Hi Gareth,

I recommend to use the new release from yesterday, there have been some bugfixes in the install and convert script.
You can get the latest Version from here: http://www.phplogcon.org/downloads

Hi

I have upgraded to the latest version, and I have beautifully parsed messages. Thankyou!

ps. Are you aware that in a fresh installation, with English language selected, /templates/login.php contains the login button "Anmelden" ? :)
