How to use different DB Schema

Postby cspablo on Tue Nov 22, 2005 1:07 am

I am using a different DB schema for my event logs than what is created when installing this software. What changes do I need to make in order for this to query correctly? Also, where do I need to make the changes?

For example the fields in my table that holds the event logs are different then the fields in the table that is created by this.

Hello,

If you are using a different DB schema, I think it will be very hard to adapt phplogcon. For the filter logic etc. you need almost all fields of the current schema. To use a different schema I think you have to rewrite almost all.

Maybe you can provide us your DB schema to see the different. But as I already wrote, probably it is not easy to adapt it.

Sorry that I have no better answer at hand.

thanks for replying. Do you know of any other web front ends? I am currently using kiwi syslog to dump my event logs to a mysql db. I checked google and I came up with this front end, but it doesn't look like it will work.

thanks again,

Another one you could try is php-syslog-ng, it builds on a simpler schema. I would also consider to change the syslogd to write the schema that the front-end is expecting, I guess that is possible...
