Sorry, I give up :( You do not follow my instructions. It won't work without an upgrade...

use the complete tarball if you go with 3.19.7. Its far more than copying one directory...

Before that, do a "rm -rf rsyslog-3.16.1"

Hi,

Actually I don't want to go with 3.19.7. Is it not possible to implement it using 3.16.1 with some modifications.

no - but beta 3.17.5 will most probably turn into 3.18.0, the next v3-stable, next week.

side-note: well... of course it is possible, but it requires enough technical knowledge to do the necessary changes. Among others, that means sufficient understanding of autotools and C. I can't talk you through that...

No problem. Be sure to watch either the mailing list for updates or subscribe to the project on freshmeat ( http://freshmeat.net/projects/rsyslog/ ). That way, you will be notified when the new release is out. I won't update this thread here ;)

The good thing if you subscribe to either is that you do not need to check - you'll get email notifications once news are ready :)

Just out of curiosity: can you tell me what your overall goal is?

Ah, very well. That's good so it get's another round of review from the user's point of view :) I already have update some parts of the doc to make things easier to spot - things that I learned out of this discussion :)

Thanks :) As ommail is now part of the stable release, there is also doc available on it: http://www.rsyslog.com/doc-ommail.html

This may be useful for you.
