Heartbeat

Postby Henning on Wed Jan 21, 2004 11:43 am

Hi, I have installed the EventReporter Service and configured it to send all Security events to a SQL Database-Server. This is still running fine.

After that I'm configuring the Heartbeat service using the same RuleSet, but I found nothing in the SQL database. When I create a second RuleSet with the net send option for the Heartbeat service, I get the Heartbeat messages on the target device.

It is possible to send the Heartbeat to a Database?
If it is, what should I find in the Database (Event-ID Table)?
Do you have aditional information for the Heartbeat service?
Regards Henning

Hello,

Kindly follow the procedure written below:

Create a new ruleset. Add a new rule to it. Dont give any filer condition. In the actions, select write to database. Associate this Rule Set to Heart Beat Service. You will see the heartbeat messages in the database. You can distinguish the heartbeat messages in the database by the text that you have written while configuring heartbeat service in the text box that says "Message that is sent during each heartbeat"

Kindly do this. If you still need any help, please dont hesitate to contact us.

HeartBeat

Postby Henning on Thu Jan 22, 2004 11:33 am

Dear Wajih,

now I have a new configuration but with the same results, we don't have any HeartBeat entries in the database. There are also no filters configured. If I configure a NetSend as an second Action I get the Messages-Boxes on my PC.

Also the database connection is running, becaus if I send the security logs to the database I still have entries inside.

Is there anything else I can check? Where is the configuration stored, I don't find in the registry any entries for the HeartBeat sleep time.

Regards
Henning

Hello,

I have tried to write the heartbeat messages to database in my lab and its working perfectly fine. There could be something wrong with the configurations that you are making. Kindly do the following:

1. Go to the Computer Menu
2. Click on Export Settings to Registry ( and not the binary one)
3. Save them and send to support@adiscon.com with the subject as "Heartbeat messages not written to database" so that i know that whose registry settings are these

Using these settings that you will send me, I will be able to create *exact* settings that you are making on your machine and can identify the errors if any.

I will be waiting for your reply

Best Regards
