Hi, I'm a new french user of rsyslog, and i hope you can find a solution to my problem.

I have downloaded rsyslog 3.18.1 for my Fedora Core 6 (not include before FC8, but i can't install new versions onto my ML370, well well well), and i'm trying to install using the command

./configure --enable-mysql

but i always have the message

configure: error: MySQL is missing

, but Mysql is correctly installed (yum install mysql-server) and running

mysqld (pid 13046) en cours d'exécution...

So, wtf?

• Custom written rsyslog.conf?
• Maintenance Contract?
• Installation support?

Have you installed a kernel-devel-package?
You will find it if you look in "Add-/Remove Software".

Give me the name of the package, i'm using a terminal console with putty , i'm not in front of the server

Ah, ok,
Normaly the name of the devel is: kernel-devel-xxxxx.fc9
"xxxxx" stands for your kernel's version

For example (in my Fedora): kernel-devel-2.6.25.11-97.fc9

i've installed kernel-devel, but my problem still exists

now you need a mysql-devel package.
These files are essential for development of mysql applications.

You need the name again...right...

Mysql-devel-5.0.51a-1.fc9

I'm sorry...I have to correct my one reply...
The kernel-package is for mysql not essential, how i have heard.
So, if you don't need it you can kick it...

In essence, you need the mysql development libraries, but there is nothing in rsyslog that requires the kernel development package. So if anybody else comes along this post, what you need to install is mysql-devel but NOT kernel-devel.
